This collection of work is an investigation into the colour blue, the vessel, and the parallels between them.

Blue is the colour of our eyes, the sea and the sky; of infinite space yet immense depth. My particular interest lies in the luminous qualities and paradox of ultramarine – symbolic of the royal and the heavenly but also the devilish and the obscene. I have explored this in conjunction with the bodily presence of a vessel, using each drawing to find a sense of space, a sense of ownership.

My process allows me to find glowing light and blue depth. It is obsessive and rhythmic: many wax crayons weave together these ideas, holding them closely in the flat surface of a piece of paper.
